Using Logos Mobile to Deepen Your Bible Study

Dr. John Fallahee’s webinar on “Logos Mobile: 20 Key Uses” offers a practical tour of the app’s features, all geared toward helping you read, study, and remember Scripture. Below is a closer look at the tools that can make your Bible study more focused and enjoyable.

1. Quick‑Start Navigation

When you open the app, the top‑left button lets you jump straight to a book, chapter, or verse. It’s handy for quick reference or when you’re returning to a passage you were reading earlier.

Quick‑tap navigation bar

Tip: Tap the book cover icon to open a list of all available Bibles and commentaries. This keeps your study path clear and consistent.

2. View Settings: Make the Text Your Own

From the three‑dot menu you can adjust font size, type, background color, line spacing, and highlight color. Setting these once means you’ll always read Scripture in a way that feels comfortable.

View Settings menu

Try a wide view for a more narrative feel or a narrow view for detailed study. You can also switch to dark mode or use the sepia setting for long reading sessions.

3. Highlighting and Smart Text Selection

Highlighting is as simple as tapping and dragging. With Smart Text Selection, you can choose a single verse, a phrase, or a full paragraph with a single touch.

Highlighting a passage

Use different highlight colors to track themes or questions that arise during your study. All highlights sync across devices, so you’ll find them on your tablet, phone, or desktop.

4. Word Study and Insight Hub

Hold any word to bring up the Word Study panel. You’ll see an English definition, and you can tap the Greek or Hebrew button to view the original language. The Insight hub, accessed via the light‑bulb icon, lets you copy, note, and explore related resources with a single tap.

Tip: Pin the Insight panel to keep it open while you read, then use it to pull in definitions or cross‑references right next to the text.

5. Split‑Window Layouts and Resource Linking

Logos Mobile supports full‑screen, split‑window, and multi‑column layouts. By linking two panes—say, the Bible on one side and a study Bible or commentary on the other—you can compare passages side by side.

Split‑window layout

Save the layout with a meaningful name, and you’ll be able to return to that exact arrangement whenever you open the app.

6. Notes and Notebook Management

All notes are stored in notebooks. Create a new notebook for a particular study project, then add notes that automatically link to Scripture references.

Notebook creation

Use icons to categorize notes visually (e.g., a heart for favorite passages). Because notes sync, your reflections are always available on every device.

7. Audio Playback for On‑the‑Go Study

Drive, walk, or wait in line—Logos can read Scripture aloud. Swipe up to exit the audio overlay and return to the text, or press the “X” to close the player.

Set up a reading plan and let the app remind you with a gentle notification, so you stay on track even when you’re away from a screen.

8. Fact Book and Cross‑Reference Power

The Fact Book is a one‑stop shop for cross‑references, dictionaries, cultural concepts, and sermon resources. Search for a term, then filter by “Biblical” or “Library” to get a focused list.

Use it to deepen your understanding of a theme or to gather supporting passages for a sermon or study session.

9. Putting It All Together

With these tools—customized viewing, highlighting, word study, split layouts, notes, audio, and the Fact Book—you can turn every reading into a meaningful encounter with Scripture. Pick one feature to explore each week, and you’ll find your study routine growing richer and more intentional.

Remember, the goal is to know God through His Word. The features above are just the tools; the real work comes from engaging with the text, asking questions, and letting the Holy Spirit guide your thoughts.
